Mission:

The mission of The Office of First-Generation Initiatives is to provide a supportive and welcoming community for all first-generation students and their families by building a campus culture that celebrates and honors the first-generation identity. We connect first-generation students to faculty/staff, resources, and information to help promote academic excellence and sense of belonging from enrollment to graduation.

Vision:

The vision of The Office of First-Generation Initiatives is to increase the 4-year graduation rate of First-Generation students at Mizzou from 45.8% (2019) to 63% by 2027.

Fast facts:

The First-Generation Working Group was born in 2021.

The Office of First-Generation Initiatives was created in 2023.

In 2024, University of Missouri was selected to be in the prestigious cohort of First-Generation Network members through the First Scholars Network (now known as FirstGen Forward).
