Navigating University Together:

A Webinar Series for Mizzou Families

Join us for our inaugural family webinar series live on Zoom to learn more about the offices, staff and resources that support your student throughout their time at Mizzou. After each webinar, recordings will be available on this page.

  • Each 45-minute session features a presentation by campus staff or faculty with plenty of time for questions.

  • Webinars take place on the first Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. Central.

  • Families of any Mizzou student (incoming and current) are welcome to attend!

  • Registration is free, and you only need to register once to attend any or all 12 sessions.

Fall 2024

August 6: Office for Financial Success: Student Loans 101: Navigating student loans can be challenging and stressful for college students and their families. Join us for “Student Loans 101” to gain clarity and confidence to make informed decisions about financing your student’s education.

This webinar will help you understand:

– How to access and choose between different types of student loans

– What expenses student loans can cover

– How to determine the amount of student loans needed for your child’s expenses

– Strategies to minimize debt and avoid overborrowing

– How to finalize financial aid and billing for the 24-25 school year

October 1: University of Missouri Libraries: Supporting Your Students as They ResearchLearn about the many ways the libraries can support your student’s research and other class projects. Sometimes starting a research project can feel overwhelming, but the library is here to support your student every step of the way. Get to know library spaces, resources, and tools that your student can use to find research and college success. 

November 5: Dining & Parking: Description coming soon.

December 3: Office of Financial Aid: Maximize Your Financial Aid: We will discuss the following: FAFSA, ScholarshipUniverse, Scholarship Tips & Tricks, Employment Work Study (must earn income before the end of the Spring semester) vs. Campus Employment.

Spring & Summer 2025

January 7: Disability Center: When it comes to accessing accommodations, there are big differences between high school and college. Most importantly, college students are expected to take on more personal responsibility and advocate for themselves. This can be a difficult change for students whose accommodations were handled by others in the past. During this presentation, we’ll provide families with information and tips they can use to help their student navigate the accommodation process at Mizzou.

February 4: TRiO Student Support Services: TRiO Student Support Services is a completely FREE program that supports students’ success here at Mizzou! We serve students who are either first generation, low-income or have a documented disability! Being in an underrepresented group can have your student facing extra challenges, and we are here to help them through it! Join our Webinar on February 4th to learn more about our program, what services we offer, and how your student can benefit from joining!

March 4: Residential Life: Description coming soon.

April 1: Career Center: This session will dive into resources and services around finding experiences and jobs, exploring majors and careers, and gaining transferable skills that your student can use in whatever their next step might be.

May 6: Fraternity & Sorority Life: Description coming soon.

June 3: Student Health & Well-Being: Description coming soon.

July 1: Student Involvement: The University of Missouri Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is where curiosity meets community and investigation can become expertise. It’s a space where a love of service can become leading fundraising efforts for different causes or a question about sustainability can lead to becoming a beekeeper. This webinar will explore student involvement at Mizzou and introduce Welcome Week, a week for Tigers to meet fellow Tigers, take part in Mizzou traditions, get to know their academic home, and find their community.
